Meet Katie Crider (and pup Eloise)

Kc1

Katie comes from the southern state of Savannah, GA.  She graduated with a Interior Design degree from the University of Georgia.  In college she obtained an internship at Carleton V Ltd., which connected her with Dorothy Draper & Co. There she worked as a project manager at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.  After the completion of the year long project, Katie pursued her passion of traveling to China to get inspired for the next journey ahead and returned to New York with Carleton V Ltd.

Q & A

1. What is the main attraction you love most about textile design?

It's art that you are allowed to touch and live in on a daily basis.

2. What are your interests beyond the realm of interior design?

I love to cook, especially Southern food that reminds me of home.  I also love to travel because it's the best way to stay inspired and to challenge yourself.

3. What are you doing when you are not in the studio at the D&D Building?

I'm cozied up with my puppy and a Marilyn Monroe movie.

4.  What is your favorite Carleton V design?

I have a soft spot for "Growing Wild," an original print from 1975.  It really makes me happy and appeals to my girly side.

5.  Top 3 places to travel.

Tuscany, especially on the coast, Savanna, and Charleston, the South Carolina low country.

6.  What is your first exciting memory of fabric?

It was a rich, green, shimmery fabric that my mom used to make a mermaid costume out of when I was young.  I thought it was the best thing in the world!

7.  What is your color of the month?

Soft pink, like ballet slippers and peonies.
